My interest in art began early in life. My interest in photography as an art form began at the University of Colorado while working toward my BFA in painting. After graduation, I apprenticed at the Denver Art Museum's Photography Department, which gave me extensive darkroom experience. I also began exploring alternative photographic processes.

The Polaroid SX-70 manipulation process initially attracted me because of its semblance to painting, which allows me to physically interact with the medium. The resulting images have a beguiling ambiguity/duality between photography and painting, realism and impressionism. It is fascinating to be that photography's intrinsic nature perpetuates the perception of realism in the eye and mind, yet is an illusion that is capable of revealing much more.

I have worked in this technique since 1984. Over that time I have exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries, universities, museums, as well as major art festivals around the country and have won over 100 major awards. My work is in numerous corporate, public and private collections including the Polaroid Corporation from whom I also received a grant.

I thoroughly enjoy creating these works from the initial photography to the final print. I hope you will enjoy them too.
